Congratulations

Lynsey who works in Old Bear has qualified as a Forest School Leader. She has undertaken 6 months training with Christian Fox who runs O.W.L( Outdoor Wisdom & Learning). Well done Lynsey

We currently have only three staff who are able to make it into nursery. We are asking you to stay at home today. If we are able to operate we will be closing early for the safety of Children Parents and Staff. You will be updated with a closing time as soon as we have one. These are the roads on the estate and our car park. Thank you for you understanding

🐻❄️ Snowy Weather ❄️🐻

Snowy Weather

We have checked for the forecast and it is predicated to begin snowing at around 4 am. The roads and pavements locally are not gritted. Staff who are able to make the journey will attempt it, but as we do not yet know how hazardous this is going to be until the morning. We will not know how many staff will safely make it in. Will update you around 7 am by text message as soon as management have attempted to walk to nursery. If you can keep your child off it will be appreciated and if we are able to operate we may have to close early for the safety of all people getting home.

🌳🌳 Forest Schools🐻

We are so pleased to announce that we have our very own private and secure Forest School area. Our very own Rachel alongside Kim Hargreaves are our qualified Forest School leaders who have introduced some of our 2 year old’s and preschool children to the wonders of Forest School this week. We have been on a scavenger hunt, the rope swing, climbing in the trees, balancing on the logs, swung in the hammock, traversed the rope walk, made nature crowns and bracelets and explored our fabulous area. This will be extended to more challenging experiences and future children will get to experience the awe and wonder of Forest School.

Public Health Information

We have received information from Staffordshire County Council, there have been recent localised outbreaks of measles centred around the West Midlands. There is a risk of further outbreaks in other areas unless urgent action is taken to increase Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccination take up in areas with low MMR vaccine rates.

Measles spreads very easily among those who are unvaccinated, especially in nurseries and schools. The best protection against measles for children and adults is to get both doses of the MMR vaccine. It is never too late to have these vaccinations.

Do you want to build a Snowman?

Today the children have enjoyed exploring the snow, our toddlers in particular enjoyed building a ‘baby’ Snowman. Lots of vocabulary was being used as the children explored the snow and how it felt to them. They said their Snowman, ‘was a baby Snowman with sticks for arms and a carrot for a nose’. They looked at pictures of a previous year big Snowman and exclaimed ‘Daddy Snowman’

They used verbs to describe how they built the Snowman such as ‘pat, pat’ and ‘roll’.

When it was time for the toddlers to come in they let their snowman play on the slide and they said ‘bye Mr. Snowman’ as the left him.

Snow Exploration

Today Our Under 2 children have enjoyed exploring the snow. The older babies went outdoors and explored the snow, they made marks in the snow using their foot prints and showed awe and wonder when they tasted the snow off their gloves and noticed they gloves getting wet.

The younger babies explored the snow in a tray, they used their senses to explore and saw the snow melt into water. Staff modelled vocabulary such ‘ crunchy’, ‘melting’, scooping’ as the children practiced using spoons to promote independence. Which is a skill they will use during meal times as they develop self feeding skills.
